• How does the aqua treadmill differ from swimming?
The Aqua Treadmill is a controlled environment using the natural
stride and movement of the horse. The treadmill allows us to control
the water level and speed enabling us to target specific areas of
the horses body. Swimming is more of an aerobic exercise using an
unnatural movement. Extensive swimming may cause back soreness and
stifle issues.
• How long does a horse stay in the treadmill?
Each horse is different. There are so many variables involved in
determining a horses fitness needs. Our aqua therapy specialist will
consult with the owner, veterinarian, or trainer regarding the
therapy/fitness plan.
• How long does it take for my horse to be fit?
It depends on the horse and the desired results. Each horse arrives
with a different level of fitness and needs. We recommend a horse
stay a minimum of 30 to 60 days to benefit from our program.
• What if my horse is scared of water?
Not a problem! Our skilled staff goes the extra mile to make sure
that every horse goes through an initial orientation of the aqua
treadmill to insure that your horse has a pleasant and safe
experience.
